Addressing Back Pain with Corrective Exercises

While getting regular exercise is essential for healthy living, some people accidentally do more harm than good to their bodies when they engage in exercise incorrectly. In fact, certain exercise can create back pain, making it necessary to seek corrective treatment. If you plan to start a workout routine, be sure to follow these guidelines to keep your back safe

Focus on the Core and Cardio

Building core muscles helps to provide additional support to your lower back, thereby helping to prevent injury. Riding a bicycle is a good low-impact way to work your core while also working your cardiovascular system. The increased blood flow to your spine will further help with keeping it happy.

Lift Weights Correctly

Lifting weights is a great way to build muscle while also strengthening bones. Lifting incorrectly, however, can lead to severe back problems. When lifting, be sure to always keep your back straight and to lift with your arms and legs, not your back.

Get Stretching

Keeping the body limber is a great way to help prevent injury. In addition to doing warm-up stretches before and after your workout routine, stretching should be included as part of your regular routine. Believe it or not, tight hamstrings can be a cause of back pain. Therefore, you should be sure to include hamstring stretches as well as other types of stretches in your routine. This will help decrease pressure on your pelvis while providing relief to your lower back.

At Advanced Spine & Rehab, we create a blueprint of exercises that are specifically designed to help you correct and strengthen your back. Performed from the comfort of your home, these exercises can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30 to 40 percent. We strive to be the only Arizona chiropractor that you need to address all of your spinal problems.
