Preparing for Your First Visit with a Physical Therapist Following a Car Accident

Advanced Spine and Family Healthcare Provides Car Accident Treatment Plans

Preparing for Your First Visit with a Physical Therapist Following a Car AccidentAfter being involved in a car accident, you may have sustained injuries that require completing a physical therapy program. Before meeting with a physical therapist to discuss your treatment plan, there are a few steps you should take. These include:

  • Make a list of the questions that you have so you can make the best use of your time with the physical therapist.
  • Write down your symptoms as well as other important information related to those symptoms, such as how long you have been having them, whether or not the pain is better or worse following certain activities, if the pain is more noticeable during certain times of the day and whether or not it is relieved or made worse by resting.
  • Write down your medical history, including a list of prescription and over-the-counter medications that you take, any information that may have contributed to your condition and a list of any medical conditions that you or close family members may have.
  • A list of the physicians and other health care professionals that you see.

When you call to make your appointment with your physical therapist, it is also a good idea to ask if you should wear a certain type of clothing for your first visit. Generally speaking, it is best to avoid wearing tight or formal clothing because the therapist is likely to ask you to engage in certain activities during your first visit in order to better assess your condition and needs.

At Advanced Spine & Rehab, we will help you determine the appropriate treatment plan to follow after being involved in a car accident. Contact us to learn more!
