Chiropractic adjustments are treatments designed to manipulate vertebrae with abnormal movement patterns or which do not function correctly. This treatment targets inflammation in your body to relieve pain and discomfort and improve your health and quality of life. Inflammation is a natural response and the most common cause of discomfort and pain in your body. Inflammation may occur as a result of damage to supporting tissues, pathogens or even a high level of stress.
Chiropractic adjustments can be preformed on patients of all ages. They may also be recommended for those who experience frequent pain or discomfort, have a limited range of motion, or have nerve irritability. There are two types of adjustments — manual chiropractic adjustments and instrument-assisted chiropractic adjustments. Both perform the same functions, but in manual adjustments, the treatment is performed with hands only, rather than with any kind of external equipment.
Chiropractic adjustments are effective for patients of all ages and may be recommended for anyone in a period of life where inflammation may be common, such as during pregnancy or at the beginning of a newborn’s life. Chiropractic treatment can also help treat conditions such as high blood pressure, ear infections and digestive issues.
When you receive a chiropractic adjustment, our doctors will have you lie facedown on a treatment table. Your spine and surrounding areas will then be gently manipulated to target inflammation in your body and relieve your pain and discomfort.
Most patients who receive this treatment experience a relieving sensation. You may feel some discomfort during the procedure if your surrounding muscles spasm or if you tense up during treatment. Our doctors may recommend that your chiropractic adjustment be performed in conjunction with massage therapy or another relaxation treatment.
